Adopt-A-Child Jamaica
The Health & Wellness Summits are a central pillar of the work of the Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network (JDTAN), reflecting a long-standing commitment to improving health outcomes for Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora. These summits bring together healthcare professionals, public health practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to address the most pressing health challenges affecting Jamaican communities. While each summit may focus on a particular theme, the overarching goal remains constant: to translate professional knowledge and lived experience into practical, culturally relevant guidance that strengthens prevention, care, and community awareness.
In 2025, JDTAN’s Health & Wellness Summits placed a deliberate focus on non-communicable diseases (NCDs)—recognizing their growing impact on individuals, families, and national health systems. At the same time, the summits continue to address the full spectrum of health issues affecting Jamaicans, including infectious diseases, chronic illness, mental health, and public health emergencies. Over the years, JDTAN has convened expert discussions on topics such as COVID-19, cancer, and other conditions that disproportionately affect Jamaican populations. Supported by multiple health-focused task forces, the summits foster interdisciplinary collaboration, professional exchange, and ongoing dialogue—ensuring that diaspora expertise contributes meaningfully to healthier communities and more informed national conversations around wellness.
